2010 Represented the Inaugural “Bodies as a Work of Art” Event: The success of the inaugural “Bodies as a Work of Art” lead The Chelko Foundation to brand it as their signature fundraising event. Last year’s 400 attendees were treated to a groundbreaking evening of Live Body Art hosted by Mitchell Anderson.
The panel of celebrity judges included Mara Davis, Richard Eldredge, Timothy Tew and this years Chair, Carey Carter. Eight of the original artists and seven new contestants will return this year including Lawrence Shelnutt, who received last year’s winning $1,000 grant.
In addition, and the start of another Chelko Foundation tradition, the Heart of Empowerment award was given to Bill Haygood at 2010’s event.
The Heart of Empowerment is awarded to a deserving individual who has given tireless time and energy to propel the Chelko Foundation forward. Bill’s limitless generosity enabled The Chelko Foundation to bring “Bodies as a Work of Art” to life, furthering Paul’s vision and the foundation’s mission to empower women.
